Garden News

Hi neighbor,

Some more branches fell from the tree next door into the garden a few
weeks ago. Dan Peterson and I cut them up so we’ll have to have
another bonfire over there.

Also, I’m looking for someone to mow the areas on the east and south
sides of the garden. Different people have volunteered at different
times. Is this something you could do?

There are some fine looking pumpkins growing in the garden. Please
tell folks to let them be until they mature. Perhaps we can a harvest
party there soon.

Ideas?

Spay/Neuter in Ward 5

I just received fantastic news from MN Snap that their organization received a large grant from Petsmart to conduct up to 1,300 spay or neuter operations for animals living in Ward 5. If you are not already familiar with MN Snap, I highly recommend you learn more. www.mnsnap.org

Feral cat colonies are increasing and your neighborhoods have one of the highest levels of cat overpopulation in the city. MN Snap would like to contact you to start planning how they can help you curb this overpopulation and also serve your residents who have pets that need to be spayed or neutered. Please let me know if you’re interested and I can help arrange for a time to meet via conference call or meeting place.

North Branch Library Renovation Needs Your Help

Hello. I am working on the renovation of the North Branch Library on
l8th & Emerson for Emerge Community Development. The project was
selected to compete for grant money by having people vote for the
project through their facebook page. The competition is fierce: the
Swedish Institute, the Schubert Theater, etc. so we wanted to reach
people who will likely support the project and have them vote. You can
vote once each day. So, the reason for membership is to provide
information on this specific project and to be available to answer
questions.

The voting period is only three weeks and it started today. Before
today, we were not allowed to tell anybody about it – hence the last
minute request.

I can be reached at 612-718-5954 if you have questions.

Thank you.

Lisa K
